President Obama makes three references to LGBT rights in his acceptance speech at a Democratic convention marked by the integration of LGBT issues, although they've given us a whole new name.  Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan gives benedictions at both conventions that worked his personal crusades against choice and gay rights.  Ann Romney passes on a chance to defend traditional marriage.  NFL football players clash with Maryland legislator who wants them to stifle their support of same-sex marriage.  A judge orders Massachusetts to provide gender reassignment surgery to a transgender inmate and is condemned by the Republican and Democratic candidates for US Senate.
