Free Speech TV to Cover 2016 Republican and Democratic Conventions

Crashing the Party 2016

Special correspondents former Ohio State Senator Nina Turner and Comedian Will Durst

Cleveland, OH, July 20, 2016 - Reporting directly from the convention halls and streets of Cleveland and Philadelphia, Free Speech TV, will direct a team of award-winning journalists and hosts who will highlight issues and lift up voices shut out of the national dialogue by corporate media filters.  Money in politics, racial justice, immigration, economic justice, climate change, LGBTQ, and labor are among the issues that FSTV coverage will highlight over two weeks of special programing.

“The conventions this year are very different.  America is at an historic crossroad with vibrant insurgencies rocking both political establishments.  Free Speech TV will be there to bring you fresh and surprising perspectives,” according to Executive Director, Ron Williams.

Since the 2000 Presidential Election, Free Speech TV has aired election coverage under the theme of Crashing the Party.  This year, FSTV will augment its live daily news and talk shows -  Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, The Bill Press Show, The Stephanie Miller Show, The Thom Hartmann Show, The David Pakman Show -  with a new daily show, TWiB! (This Week in Blackness) Prime with Elon James White.

The network will also feature original short-form segments airing throughout the day from special correspondents including former Ohio State Senator Nina Turner, comedian Will Durst, award-winning documentarian Catherine Gund, journalists Laura Flanders, Sonali Kolhatkar, Jeff Santos and Mark Winston Griffith.  Live speeches from the DNC convention floor will air from 7-11 pm, July 25-28, 2016.
