Monday's High Court stayed the appointments of 138 Rajshahi University employees and teachers made by M Abdus Sobhan, its former vice-chancellor. He had been appointed on May 5, his last day working against a ban imposed on him by the education ministry. The court requested the Anti-Corruption Commission in an investigation into the alleged misuse of power by M Abdus Sobhan, vice-chancellor for giving the appointments. It was to submit its probe report within 60 days.
