Rowe Sanctuary's photo blinds are placed near major Sandhill Crane roosts and can provide excellent opportunities for photography or a unique experience for any nature enthusiast. This experience is not for the faint of heart and can be quite cold. Participants will remain in the blind from 5:00 p.m. on the day of the reservation until retrieved by a Rowe Sanctuary guide the following day after the cranes have left the river (usually after 9:00 a.m.).
Because of the close proximity of the cranes, you are not allowed to leave the blind until a staff person or volunteer comes to get you the following morning. The safety of the cranes is our highest priority, so the rules are enforced. Each blind has a porta-potty. You are responsible for bringing the proper equipment to stay warm overnight.
