The campaign of Democratic candidate for governor Jack Conway is releasing a series of six ads highlighting Republican opponent Matt Bevin’s contradictory statements on a handful of issues.
The campaign is running the :15 second ads which all feature opposing statements made by Bevin to Kentucky reporters and at speaking engagements during his runs for governor and U.S. Senate.
All of the ads end with an on-screen graphic quoting the campaign of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, in 2014, calling Bevin a “pathological liar.”
The ads began airing on cable and satellite markets across the state on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Conway campaign.
Bevin’s communications director Jessica Ditto told Pure Politics that the ads are a reflection of Democrats pulling out all the stops to defeat Bevin.
“Democrats have abandoned trying to sell liberal Jack Conway and have put all of their resources into trying to tear down Matt Bevin,” Ditto said in a statement sent to Pure Politics. “But Kentucky voters want an outsider businessman who will come in and shake up Frankfort, not a political insider who will make our problems worse. Twisting words out of context is an insult to voters.”
Conway will face Bevin and Independent candidate Drew Curtis in the Nov. 3 election.
